We are seeking a dedicated Surgical Technologist to join our surgical team in Carville. In this essential role, you will play a key part in preparing the operating room, assisting during surgeries, and maintaining a sterile field to ensure patient safety. Your attention to detail and technical expertise will contribute to the success of every procedure.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and organize the operating room with necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment
- Maintain a sterile field during surgery, ensuring that sterile techniques are followed
- Assist the surgical team by passing instruments and materials during procedures
- Perform accurate counts of instruments and materials before, during, and after surgery
- Assist with patient positioning and prepping for surgery
- Clean and restock the operating room after each procedure
- Follow infection control protocols to maintain patient safety
- Document surgical counts and other necessary patient information
- Collaborate effectively with other surgical team members to ensure optimal patient care
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred
- Current BLS certification required
- Strong knowledge of surgical instruments, aseptic techniques, and operating room procedures
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
