This Operating Room Patient Care Technician position is a vital part of the surgical services department, offering the opportunity to assist across multiple clinical areas, including ambulatory care, sterile processing, phlebotomy, and surgical support. Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- 1–3 years of relevant experience as an STNA, Medical Assistant, or Phlebotomist (Preferred)
- Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification (Required; can be obtained during orientation)
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with operating room support, sterile equipment handling, and surgical prep
- Monitor and document vital signs, perform bladder scans and blood glucose testing
- Collect and transport lab specimens, perform EKGs, and assist with phlebotomy tasks
- Manage supply restocking, equipment transport, and room turnover
- Perform clerical duties including order entry and answering phones
- Support nursing staff with direct patient care under RN supervision
- Communicate with families and promote involvement in patient care where appropriate
- Flex to other departments as needed based on patient census and staffing
